Our Mission

To support public initiatives and foster an active, independent, and resilient civil society that contributes to democratic development, human rights protection, and accountable governance in Azerbaijan.

Our activities

Cooperation

  • round tables, forums, and stakeholder consultations involving NGOs, policymakers, experts, and media;
  • policy analysis and recommendations submitted to national and international institutions;
  • technical and methodological support to NGOs through seminars, trainings, and knowledge development initiatives.

Current Status

  • In 2012–2013, PIC developed the National Agenda for Civil Society within the “Strengthening Civil Society” project and convened national and regional Civil Society Forums with participation of more than 500 local and international NGOs, state bodies, and development organizations.
  • Despite full compliance with registration requirements, PIC has been denied state registration six times due to political interference by the Ministry of Justice.
  • PIC pursued all domestic legal avenues without remedy and then appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
